Microalgae01

Why grow microalgae in photobioreactors?

Microalgae use photosynthesis to turn CO₂ + light + nutrients into proteins, plant oils, antioxidants and more → a natural process that uses few resources.

Benefits

Sustainable production, little need for arable land, lower CO₂ emissions, and the option of using effluents or wastewater as nutrients.

Global impact

A solution for food, aquaculture, phytoremediation, biomass production…

Full control

Unlike open ponds, photobioreactors allow precise control of the culture: quality, conditions (gas, light, temperature), optimised yield, minimal water use and a smaller footprint.

Suited to operations of every size — from small workshops to industrial units — thanks to their flexibility and modularity.

Simple, robust, cost-effective.

01

A founding conviction

At Vietaime, it all starts with a simple conviction:
we can produce better.

Offering exceptional spirulina, grown in a clean, controlled way that respects living things.

02

Technology in the service of life

Using light and state-of-the-art photobioreactors, we recreate the ideal conditions for growing ultra-pure spirulina.

Closed-loop cultivation - Zero outside pollution - Zero contamination

No open ponds. No compromise.
Just scientific expertise in the service of nature.

03

Clean, sustainable and responsible

Producing differently is our commitment.

  • Water savings
  • No pesticides
  • Ecosystem protection
  • Minimal environmental footprint

Every microgram of Vietaime spirulina is grown with respect for the planet.

Who we are

Born from a clear ambition

Combining French technology with Vietnam’s vitality to produce exceptional, clean and sustainable spirulina.

The result of close collaboration between French and Vietnamese laboratories and universities

Our project builds on the latest scientific advances in photobioreactor cultivation. This scientific synergy guarantees high-quality spirulina, grown in a fully controlled environment, without pollution or compromise.

We chose Ho Chi Minh City, at the heart of a Vietnam in full economic and technological growth, as the home of our production site. A strategic location that embodies a harmonious partnership between European scientific rigour and Asian dynamism.

Our mission

To offer a superfood as pure for the body as it is respectful of the planet, and to pave the way for a new, responsible and sustainable nutrition, worldwide.

Our innovation03

The coupling cell

Turning an environmental problem into a nutritional solution.

How can aquaculture become sustainable and responsible?

Aquaculture is set to play a key role in feeding the world. But today it still depends heavily on already overexploited marine resources, and it releases polluting effluents that weaken aquatic ecosystems.

At Vietaime, we started from a simple observation:
We cannot protect the oceans with production models that keep depleting them.

Simple, flexible and accessible technology

We started by developing flexible, low-cost photobioreactors (PBRs) adapted to the constraints of aquaculture farms, including in resource-limited settings.

But the real innovation came next.

From waste to feed, in a loop.

One simple process

We designed a coupling cell that recovers the nutrients found in polluted effluents — nitrogen and phosphorus — and uses them directly for cultivation.

The result:

  • Effluents are treated
  • Pollution is reduced at the source
  • And these nutrients are used to produce high-value microalgae

One process, two benefits.

Ongoing trials

We are currently testing this integrated system in Vietnam, right next to aquaculture ponds.

The principle is simple:

  • Waste from the farms is captured
  • The nutrients it contains feed the microalgae culture
  • These microalgae are then used locally, notably as a protein source for aquaculture

A sustainable alternative

To feed farmed fish, aquaculture still relies heavily on meal made from wild fish. This model directly contributes to the depletion of marine stocks.

With spirulina and other microalgae rich in protein and lipids, we offer a sustainable alternative:

  • Less pressure on wild fish
  • No disruption of marine ecosystems
  • A much smaller environmental footprint

Producing better

By combining:

  • Effluent treatment
  • And local production of microalgal protein

Vietaime reduces the environmental impact of aquaculture while improving its feed self-sufficiency and its yield.

Producing better, without taking more from the ocean.
